God blessed us with an abundance of 25 pounds tomatoes and 3/4 of a bushel yellow crooked neck squash. I was so excited. Then I thought what will I do with them? We had lost our pressure cooker in our last move....so canning was out.
I did some research and found a simple way to freeze the tomatoes ..as for the squash when we pick them out of our garden, we wash them and cut them up and freeze them in freezer bags, that is what I decided to do with them. For the tomatoes all we had to do was to blanch them in boiling water for 1 minute and then the skin falls right off. We then froze them in zip lock bags in the freezer.

Fall is finally here
The days are getting shorter and cooler weather is upon us. I am truly thankful for the fall, as I do not really get along with SC summer heat. I am also thankful for each new homeschool year and the fresh start in a new grade for each of my children. I pray that GOD will teach their hearts and minds according to his will and that they will learn not from me, but Him. In order for that to happen, I have to humble and submit myself to Him each day for His will to be accomplished.

Welcome to Our Homeschool Blog
We Have been homeschooling for 22 years. We have five children. Our oldest 4 have graduated from home school. My youngest son is 14 and a freshman. We are currently using An Old Fashion Education and a variety of different books from different publishers. We use Life of Fred math, we love it. We Named our School Heartland Pines Academy because of one of the definitions of Heartland is :
heartland, noun
2. the core or most vital area.
We live in SC and Pine trees grow in abundance.
We believe that Home educating our children is vital to what God Commands us to do,
"Hear,O Israel:The Lord our God,the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7
"Whatever an education is, it should make you a unique individual, not a conformist; it should furnish you with an original spirit with which to tackle the big challenges; it should allow you to find values which will be your road map through life; it should make you spiritually rich, a person who loves whatever you are doing, wherever you are, whomever you are with; it should teach you what is important, how to live and how to die."

I have started this blog in hopes to encourage my fellow Home Educators and myself.
